New 7 Wonders Vs My Taj

What all has been happening with me for past few months is a saga in itself and thus would take loads of pixel jots and spaces so I better reserve it for the later blogs. This entry intends to dangle around the newest debate on the blocks. The controversy of TAJ & its' inclusion in the list of 7 WONDERS.

Well, lets' try to understand it from both perspectives. For those who think Taj is matter of our national pride and every thing under the ol’ blue sky should be done to get it listed under the 7 wonders, I extend my overt support to basic ideology.

There is a second group that thinks that listing has nothing to with the pride and its' all a media gimmick and money making tactic.
Well, I tried to deliberate a bit over the issue and have come to terms with certain thought flicks.

First of all, indeed it would be very significant move for Taj to get included in the said list and it gonna’ surely affect tourism in a positive manner. I just wanted addresssal of a few issue from the supporting parties though;

  1. Is it a UNO or ASI initiative which would entail authenticity to the campaign and which would in turn ensure that the results are no challenged at later dates?
  2. How do I compare my Taj with their say Acropolis or Colosseum or for that matter even Eiffel tower? I being a student all my life have never been to even Kanyakumari.Now,on rationale basis, I cannot draw a judicious and informed comparison.
  3. Is voting or not voting for Taj an indication or parameter of my National pride. Would I be labeled non-patriotic for not voting(!) ?
  4. If its' all a non profit thing, then why are Mywonder goodies being sold at exuberant prices and all marketing endeavors are inviting money like anything ?
  5. Lastly, why should I even try and draw a comparison between others and what is dear to me ? I dunno' if the organizers would even mind putting on polls their own parents or siblings for that matter if its’ assuring cash flow. Voila!Vote for fathers.Who is the best mother.Crap huh !

I believe in some corner of my heart that I have due respect for our national monuments and heritages but at no cost would I ever bring them to the scrutiny of irrational gimmicks. It is my firm conviction that the only way due respect and sensibility can be shown towards Taj is by not voting for it or any other heritage. Let history be for all to cherish not some body's fantasy. Let our future generations bake in the glory of having Taj as an architectural/spiritual marvel rather than a poor farer.

Let rational prevail where money rules !!!
